What This Part Does
This switch provides manual on/off control of the fireplace by opening or closing the control circuit.
In millivolt fireplaces, the switch completes the low-voltage circuit generated by the thermopile, allowing the gas valve to open and operate the main burner.
In electronic ignition fireplaces, the switch sends an on/off signal to the control module, which then manages the ignition sequence and burner operation.
Wall switches are commonly installed near the fireplace and provide a simple alternative to using a remote control or thermostat.
Switches may vary in style, electrical rating, mounting configuration, and compatibility depending on the fireplace system.

Common Problems This Switch May Fix
- Fireplace will not turn on from the wall switch
- Intermittent fireplace operation
- Switch feels loose, damaged, or worn out
- No continuity through the switch circuit
- Burner only operates when wires are manually jumped
- Wall switch does not activate the gas valve or control module
- On/off control functions inconsistently
- Electrical contacts inside the switch have failed
Wall switches provide a simple method of turning the fireplace on and off by opening or closing the control circuit.
Before replacing the switch, inspect the wiring connections, remote receiver, thermostat, control module, or gas valve, as these components can cause similar symptoms.
Warranty Information
This product includes a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase. This warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship under normal operating conditions.
Fireplace components must be properly installed and matched to the correct system (millivolt vs IPI, natural gas vs propane).
This warranty does NOT cover:
• Improper installation or incorrect application
• Use with the wrong gas type (NG vs LP)
• Misdiagnosis of the issue
• Damage caused by other failing components
• Normal wear and tear
• Labor, service, or diagnostic time
Because many fireplace issues can be caused by multiple components, we strongly recommend confirming the diagnosis before replacing parts.
We are happy to assist with this. Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims. Please contact us prior to removal or replacement of the part so we can help verify the issue and guide the warranty process.
What should I do before starting this repair?
Before replacing a fireplace switch, verify that the switch is the source of the problem and inspect the wiring for loose, damaged, or disconnected connections.
It is also helpful to take a photo of the existing wiring before removal so the replacement can be connected correctly.
Disconnect electrical power to the fireplace before beginning service and follow any manufacturer-specific instructions for your model.
How difficult is this part to replace?
Switch replacement is generally considered an easy repair and can often be completed with basic hand tools.
Most installations involve removing the existing switch, transferring the low-voltage wires to the replacement switch, and securing it in place.
Accessibility varies by fireplace design, but switch replacement is typically one of the simpler fireplace repairs.
Is this a safe DIY repair?
Most fireplace switch replacements are considered safe DIY repairs because they typically involve low-voltage control wiring rather than gas line connections.
Care should be taken to identify and reconnect wires correctly during installation. Improper wiring may prevent the fireplace from operating correctly.
Always disconnect electrical power to the fireplace before servicing any electrical components.
How do I know if this part is bad?
Common signs of a failing fireplace switch include the fireplace not responding when the switch is operated, intermittent operation, or needing to toggle the switch multiple times before the burner activates.
Over time, switch contacts can wear, become loose, or develop excessive resistance, preventing the control signal from reaching the fireplace control system.
Before replacing the switch, verify that wiring connections are secure and that other components such as the thermopile, control module, receiver, or gas valve are functioning properly.
